The credit crunch and slowing economy has been both a shock and a wake-up call to the societies around the world. The credit crunch has made general food prices rocket, especially fresh produce such as fruit, vegetables, and meat. If you think hard about it, there are plenty of ways to save your expenditure when doing your weekly food shop. Here are my top tips on saving your money when doing food shopping.
- Start buying more supermarket branded items - Usually the cheaper supermarket brands are just as good as any mainstream branded product, but will just have less fancy packaging. You can almost be sure that any supermarket branded basic food-stuff such as flour, tea, jam, etc will be just as good as anything else. Try doing this with a few items at a time, and aim to save a set amount by the end of each month.
- Eat before you go shopping - It is a bad move to go to a supermarket when you are hungry as you are sure to buy unnecessary items just because you stomach is rumbling. Doing this will also save you from eating anything to unhealthy such as bakery cakes or pies from the shop counter.
- Get a decent kitchen - If you have a nice kitchen environment, you are more likely to enjoy cooking your own meals rather than buying pre-prepared foods and ready meals. Okay you may have to research Personal Loans and get a good deal if you don’t have the cash already, but spending a little now will save you money in the future.
