Cooking up a Storm

Cooking good food is easy

Getting in the cleaners

Posted on | August 22, 2008 |

Recently I’ve been very busy at work and have not had much free time to relax at home, let alone do any cleaning up, so my place is looking pretty messy at the moment. This of course has led me to cut down on the amount of cooking I’ve been doing, so I’ve decided to get a cleaner in once a week to give my flat a going over.

Since the cleaner has been coming, I’ve realised that I can now make all kinds of flour based foods like bread, cakes, and biscuits without worrying about cleaning up the flour grains that seem to get anywhere and everywhere!

I’d really recommend getting a cleaner in if you do a lot of home cooking as it takes out the worst process associated with cooking - cleaning! There are loads of home cleaners in London that come at reasonable rates so there is nothing stopping you!

I’ve found the cleaner great value for money so far, however I’ve drawn a line at leaving all my washing-up out as this would just be cruel as I do sometimes make some ‘roasted pans from hell’ that take at least 5mins of scrubbing time.  I’ve also got into the habit of ‘cleaning up for the cleaner’ which is quite ridiculous really as my home is never that messy in the first place, and I probably end up doing 25% of the work the cleaner would actually do!  Ahh, how British of me.

So this weekend I’m off to cook sticky cinnamon buns, French baguette, and finely grated carrot and beetroot salad!
