Great festival foods

I went to the Greenman folk music festival over the weekend and had some great food. Music festivals usually have a collection of caterers who tour around the UK and Europe offering their food to the hungry masses. They set up stalls with proper commercial catering equipment so no half jobs. Here are some of my favourites that I had this weekend, and if you are going to a music festival this year or next year then look out for them.
- Le Grande Bouffe - French caterers who cook massive vats of sauasages in rich sauce and serve with soft, creamy sliced potatoes. Very rich and substantial food which will fill you up no doubt.
- Pieminister- Bristol based pie fanatics who serve the best pie/mash/gravy I’ve ever had. Pieminister offer around ten or so different varities of pie, as well as including sides like minty-mushy peas, grated cheese, and crispy shallots to go with your pie. I had the ‘Matador pie’ which contains beef, chorizo, olives, and butterbeans. Very nice.
- Xtreme Organix - Great lamb burgers which actually came beutifully pink and rare which makes a big difference over the usual ‘burger van’. They use specialist catering equipment rather than just a grill. Served with some mint sauce, and sweet chilli, this was a great burger.
Has anyone else ate at these places? What is your festival food favourites? Let us know…

Global Gathering had some good and Bad food stalls this year, My favorite had to be the Steak Van! The smoothie stall also provided much needed nutriants as did the fruit seller who had the longest queue by a mile. They had a wide selection of food available from Viggie and Vegan to Chinise, Indian and also Mexican food available. Full english breakfasts could be eaten near the campsites and you could eat in at tables.
A deffinate improvement on festivals past. The food on offer was promising but the quality could be improved for the price
