Ways to get children to eat more vegetables

It can be hard to get children to eat the right amount of vegetables each day as they may think that they don’t like something just because it is a vegetable. Well if you begin feeding attractively presented vegetables to children at an early age, they are more likely to grow up liking them and you will not have much of a problem on your hands. Here are some tips that I have learnt that will help you get your children to eat more vegetables.

  • Make soup - soups always go down well with the kids, and it is a great way for you to ’sneak’ in a lot of vegetables thanks to you blitzing the soup up.
  • Pasta sauces - chopped carrots, leeks, onions, peppers, courgettes etc can be added to rich tomato pasta sauces, which kids will not mind eating. Also try adding peas, sweetcorn, green beans to creamy, cheesy pasta sauces.
  • Pizza - finely chopped red peppers, onions, courgettes can be added to pizzas as toppings and as long as you have other nice toppings, you kids will have no problem eating up the pizza. If you need more help, but the vegetables under the cheese so they are partially hidden.

If you still have problems, try briefing your children that they are only going to get to have pudding if they eat all the vegetables that you serve up. It is better to do this before you serve dinner, rather than during.
